Dr. Matthew J. Boyle
Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr. Matthew Boyle is a fellowship-trained Orthopaedic Surgeon. He specialises in sports injury management, arthroscopic surgery of the hip, shoulder and knee, orthopaedic sports medicine, and hip preservation surgery.
Dr. Boyle has been practicing as a specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon in Auckland since 2015, caring for patients from all over New Zealand. Dr. Boyle works at Auckland Bone and Joint Surgery and holds private clinics on the North Shore.
Dr. Boyle was born and raised in New Zealand. He completed a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Genetics before undertaking his medical training at the University of Auckland and then completing his Orthopaedic Specialist Training with the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
After qualifying as an Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr. Boyle undertook two years of post-graduate fellowship training at Harvard University and Duke University in the USA, where he sub-specialised in orthopaedic sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery and hip preservation surgery.
Dr. Boyle has extensive experience in caring for elite athletes and sports teams, previously working as Team Doctor for the National Championship Duke University Men's Basketball Team, Duke University Men's Soccer Team, and Duke University Football Team in the USA.
In addition to caring for his patients, Dr. Boyle has a vigorous interest in medical research, having published many scientific articles and book chapters.
